TXT Surpasses BTS To Set Billboard Record For Most No. 1 Albums By A K-Pop Artist

New Delhi:

South Korean boy band Tomorrow X Together, famously known as TXT has set a new milestone. TXT has broken BTS’s record for the most No. 1 albums by any K-pop artist. On Sunday, Billboard announced that the group’s latest mini-album, The Star Chapter: SANCTUARY, debuted at No. 1 on the Top Album Sales chart, making it the best-selling album of the week in the United States. The Star Chapter: SANCTUARY features a total of six tracks, including Over The Moon, Danger, Heaven, Resist (Not Gonna Run Away), Forty One Winks, and Higher Than Heaven.

With this achievement, TXT has officially broken BTS’s record for the most No. 1 albums by any K-pop artist. TXT is now the first K-pop act to score seven No. 1 albums on Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart. They previously topped the chart with minisode 1: Blue Hour, The Chaos Chapter: FREEZE, minisode 2: Thursday’s Child, The Name Chapter: TEMPTATION, The Name Chapter: FREEFALL, and minisode 3: TOMORROW.

Their latest album, The Star Chapter: SANCTUARY, also debuted at No. 2 on Billboard’s Top 200 Albums chart. This milestone makes TXT only the second K-pop artist, after BTS, to land six different albums in the top five of the Billboard 200. They are also the second K-pop group ever to achieve 11 different entries on the chart.

TXT consists of a total of 5 members – Yeonjun, Soobin, Beomgyu, Taehyu and HueningKai. Interestingly, the group does not have fixed positions, as roles change with each comeback, release, or song. TXT debuted on March 4, 2019, with their first mini-album, The Dream Chapter: STAR.

Last year, TXT made history as the first Korean boy band to perform and headline at Lollapalooza, one of the biggest music festivals in the United States. Their early success brought them numerous accolades, including Rookie of the Year at the 34th Golden Disc Awards and the 2019 Melon Music Awards, New Artist of the Year at the 9th Gaon Chart Music Awards and Best New Male Artist at the 2019 Mnet Asian Music Awards.
