Richa Chadha's Plea To Save Hometown Delhi From Toxic Air: "Heartbreaking To See The Apathy…"

With AQI levels over 400, Delhi has been engulfed in a dense layer of toxic smog ever since Diwali. Now, actress Richa Chadha has expressed her concern about the alarming situation in a post shared on X (formerly Twitter). Richa re-shared a video of firecrackers being set off in Delhi amid the city’s deteriorating air quality crisis. The clip showed people bursting firecrackers on the street. In addition to sharing the video, Richa penned a heartfelt letter highlighting the terrible truth of pollution in the city that is dear to her. She wrote, “The death sentence called life in Delhi… the city of my childhood, my school, my roots… Heartbreaking to see the apathy and sheer hatred for one-selves. Politicians will do nothing unless we learn to speak up for ourselves.”

In a previous interview, Richa Chadha confessed that she was opposed to having children because of the severe impacts of climate change. “A year ago, I was firmly against having a child, and climate change was a very big reason. This is the hottest year we’ve had, and likely the coolest year you and I will experience going forward. Eco-anxiety is a real thing for people like me who lie awake thinking about it. Dia Mirza, a really good friend of mine, actually lives her truth. Many of the baby items in my home are from when she was pregnant. The books are gifts from Soha Ali Khan and my prenatal yoga instructor,” the actress told Vogue India.

On the work front, Richa Chadha was last seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Netflix series Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. After that, the actress went on her maternity break and welcomed her daughter Zuneyra in July this year.

Richa is now gearing up for the release of her upcoming film, Abhi Toh Party Shuru Hui Hai.
